The Unnamed 29th Infantry soldier was a minor character in Saving Private Ryan. He was a soldier who landed on Omaha Beach during D-Day on June 6th,1944 as part of Operation Overlord.
Biography[]
Very little was known about the soldier except that, upon landing on the beach, he was critically wounded. He appeared to suffer from severe burns on his face and arms, likely due to the explosion of mortar mines.
Captain Miller and his company eventually passed him as they made a desperate run for the sea wall through the smoke from shell explosions while under heavy machine gunfire and mortar fire. The soldier screamed in pain and terror for help. The severity of his wounds was not revealed and it was never known whether or not he survived.
