Debernardo was a minor character in the film, Saving Private Ryan. He was a soldier who landed on Omaha Beach.
He survived the initial landing and eventually made it to a hill near a sandbag bunker with a machine gun team in position. He helped to capture the sandbag position by drawing fire and sharing the kill of the machine gunner as the gunner rolled down the hill after Jackson shot an ammo crate causing the bunker to burst apart from his sniping.
