Esson was a minor character in Saving Private Ryan. He was a soldier in the 2nd Rangers Batallion of the United States Army during World War Two.

Biography

Esson was part of Company C led by Captain John H. Miller. On D-Day, June 6th,1944, Esson was deployed to Omaha Beach with Charlie Company, 2nd Rangers Battalion. Esson was seen when the landing crafts came under fire from the German MG-42s in the coastal bunker. Captain Miller shouted for his men to jump into the water to evade enemy fire. Esson was killed as he reached the sand and was blown up when a mortar landed on him and was flunged on to the water. His body was later seen when Miller was giving orders to his men.
