The Latin-American soldier was a minor character in the film, Saving Private Ryan. He was briefly seen on Omaha Beach praying in Latin for the men dying around him. He took part in the advance into Normandy after the battle.

It was unknown if he survived the battle as he was only seen while praying.

Translation of prayer[edit | edit source]

Below was a translation of the Latin prayer that he was reciting:

Oh my God, I am jesting sorry for the sins that I committed and I detest all of my sins because I dread the loss of Heaven and the pains of Hell, but most of all because they offend You, my God, who are all good and deserving of all of my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life. Amen.
