The P-51 Mustang was one of the greatest American fighter planes of all time, and was used in World War 2 by the United States Army Air Forces. It was first introduced in 1942, and was known for amazing speed, climb height, and firepower. At the end of the movie, at the battle of Ramelle, American pilots in P-51Ds supported the soldiers there by bombing the north half of the town, killing infantry soldiers and destroying the Tiger Tank, causing the Americans to win and the Germans to retreat.
It was dubbed "The angels on our shoulders" by Captain John H. Miller just before he died.
