Parkes was a minor character in the film, Saving Private Ryan. He was a soldier who was sent to France and landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day as part of Operation Overlord. Parkes helped to destroy a German machine gun position. When running with his squad towards the next position, he was killed when a German soldier shot him through the chest and out through his back.
