Biography
He lived in Payton, Iowa, with his three brothers, Daniel Ryan, Sean Ryan, and James Ryan, and is the son of Mrs. Margaret Ryan. He has a wife and an unborn son. In 1942, he along with his brothers, James and Sean, surprised Daniel who was about to make love with his girlfriend Alice Jardine, which resulted in the barn nearly being burned down, due to Daniel attacking Sean and setting a lamp ablaze.
He later joined the Army that year, and was originally assigned to Able Company, 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division in the same Company his brothers were in, but was later transferred to the 4th Infantry Division due to a law passed to prevent the loss of all sons in a family by having them serve in different units. Peter Ryan's final resting place is presumably in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial alongside the thousands of the fallen, among them most notably, Captain John H. Miller.
